Fresco Plaster Finish was invented by Warren Nass in an attempt to satisfy a marketable demand for a wall finish reminiscent of the old Italian Frescoes in landmarks such as the Sistine Chapel. The only way to achieve this "fresco" look, Warren realized, was through the use of an integrally colored plaster that could be troweled on and manipulated during the set stage. This manipulation of the plaster combines the timing of the plaster set, the multiple methods used in the application, and the chemical composition of the plaster. These factors combine to achieve the integrally colored, variegated look of Fresco Plaster Finish

In conjunction with two chemists from the Illinois Institute of Technology, one of which holds a patent on the coating formulation used on the space shuttle, Warren formulated Fresco Plaster Finish using a cement and acrylic combination. This combination was arrived at in order to achieve the greatest amount of strength without sacrificing color retention and flexibility of the applied plaster. Upon the completion of the formulation, Warren Nass acquired patent protection, U.S. Patent # 5741844. Today, Fresco Plaster Finish boasts an enviable list of references throughout the United States and abroad, in nearly any environment suitable for beautifully aesthetic finishes.
